Band Member Bio's

I began my passion in music at the age of seven and entered a talent contest with two of my sisters where we won second prize. That was the beginning of my singing career. I was self taught on guitar and often spent my teenage years in Polson Park, British Columbia playing guitar with friends who taught me a great deal. I later took lessons with a teacher; however, it was short lived. My genre of music has been Classic Rock dating back to the 1960’s. My greatest musical influences and artists have been, Alannah Myles, Amanda Marshall, Sass Jordan, Led Zepppelin, Bad Company, among so many others. During the 1980’s is where I really got serious about singing and joined several Classic Rock bands, played the circuit and began writing my own music. Along with my writing partner, we entered a program called, “One Night Stand”, we received royalties for our accomplishments and I became a member of SOCAN and continue to write. I have always loved singing and music will always be a passion.

I started playing drums when my father taught me at the age of 5. My first gig was my younger sister’s kindergarten class. I joined a drum and bugle corps and learned some basic rudiments. It wasn’t until high school that I started taking music seriously. I formed a band and we played at house parties. I took some jazz lessons and continued playing in various bands throughout the next 20 years.  I have done recording in professional studios as well as home studios for demos and originals. I have taught drum lessons at The Alberta Conservatory of Music as well as privately. My biggest success was taking a band to the “A Circuit” in Calgary with regular performances 2 – 3 times a month. I have participated in many jams and hosted a few myself.. I hope to continue having fun and success with Knee Deep, eventually headlining shows that I can produce or in the local bar scene. I am also involved with original projects and hope to fulfill that dream.

 Wayne "Laffs" Lafferty
I started playing music at age 5, learning guitar from a family friend. At age 10 I began playing drums and continued for many years forming various bands with neighborhood friends and other musicians. Moving on to bass I studied under some classically trained instructors who really instilled in me a lot of what I still try to express in my music today , and previously playing drums has helped me to connect and play in sync with a drummer.
Forming a band in Regina and playing a few venues, one of our biggest accomplishments was playing in front of over 300 people at the Turvey Centre in Regina. The energy from a crowd that size is amazing.  Taking the 1990’s off to concentrate on my family, because musicians never make the money people think.
Getting back into it in 2006 with a band called FoMoGo in Calgary, playing a few gigs, re-established my love for music and playing live, and working with Knee Deep keeps that alive.

Wayne plays Ibanez bass’ through a Behringer BVT head, and Peavey 410 cab.

I was introduced to music at a very young age.  Having taken piano lessons in grade school and growing up with sibling musicians I found an exciting and powerful love for music. After sneaking into the bars to see the bands, It appeared that the guitar player got the girls so I studied guitar for several years at the Alberta Conservatory of Music  before moving on to private lessons from many gifted instructors. I have played in such bands as , Vanzigrik  and Sonic Assault and composed original music with several other  talented musicians , but it wasn’t until I formed the lineup that became Knee Deep that I really felt at home.

Rick plays  Hamer, Jackson, Yamaha and Fender guitars uses Marshall and Soldano Amps with Line 6 Effects.
